Breakfast For 12

I had to make breakfast for twelve this morning. Why? Because that’s how many people were here during breakfast time.

Yesterday, a fire broke out in the area where I used to live before I moved Downtown earlier this year. The fire department managed to control it and put it out fairly quick but there was a lot of smoke. Some family friends/old neighbors of mine were concerned about the amount of smoke since they lived very close to it and their children were all preemies and have always had respiratory problems. A lot of their friends and colleagues live in the same area so staying with them wouldn’t make much of a difference. They called me yesterday and asked if Indy and I could take one of their kids for the night (you know there's a lot of smoke when they'd rather be downtown where all the smog is). Our apartment/loft isn’t the biggest place in the world, but I figured why not let them and their four kids stay with us for the night.

I got a phone call when the couple was leaving their house that one of their neighbors also had a similar situation with their children that had really bad asthma. They were new to the neighborhood and I didn’t know them but I figured a few more sleeping bags on our living room floor and couches wouldn’t hurt. So, the grand total of people staying over: 10. Plus Indy and I: 12. There were two little kids on our bedroom floor with us, four people in the guest room, and four in our living room. It was kind of hard to work yesterday with everyone here so I just gave myself the day off and concentrated on getting food on the table and kicking ass on the Wii.

They’re leaving this evening after dinner so I get to enjoy another day off (but I’ll probably start working the moment they walk out the door). I’m waiting for the ridiculously long line to use the bathrooms/showers to shorten so I can get shower since we’re all going exploring in my building (haven’t done that in a while) since they want me to show them around. We’re probably going to end up in some sort of trouble thanks to the super strict snobby people in this ridiculously overpriced building but hopefully they won’t because I’ve been living here for a few months now and I’m not as new as I used to be.
