PEN15

I was in the middle of blogging about a really blonde moment I had today (needless to say, that blog has gotten replaced by this one) when I got a phone call from my friend. She was crying hysterically and asked if she could come over. Of course, I told her she could. While I waited, I wondered why she could be crying that frantically. It couldn’t have been something her boyfriend did. He’s a really nice guy and he adores her. I though maybe she got fired from work, but that couldn’t be it either. She had just gotten promoted last week so it was highly unlikely. I couldn’t think of anything else that would make her cry like that.

I made some macaroni and cheese just in case she needed comfort food. When she was down the hallway, I could already hear her. This had to be bad. I opened the door and saw what looked like her trying to hold back some tears. Before I could say or do anything, she pulled out a pen and wrote something on my hand.

She made a really funny noise, and then I realized something. It wasn’t hysterical crying that I heard on the phone. It was hysterical laughing.

I threw a napkin at her for making me worry something was really wrong. Then I asked her why she had written PENIS on my hand because I hadn’t seen anyone do that since I was in middle school (and if you didn’t know, that’s what PEN15 really is). It was her way of starting off a funny story.

She explained that she went to a family dinner last night for her aunt and that her little cousin did something funny. The little girl went up to her older sister and wrote it on her hand then yelled out “Ha! You have penis on your hand!”. The part that made it funny was that the older sister happened to have her hand really close to her boyfriend’s crotch and the family didn’t know what the little girl was referring to. They all glared at her and started to lecture her about how inappropriate it was to grab her boyfriend like that at a family event (especially since she was 15). The poor girl tried explaining what had happened (my friend and other members tried explaining too) but it was too late. Her mother is sending her this weekend to a chastity retreat for young people organized by their church. All this because of what a little girl innocently did.

I started laughing when I heard this because I couldn’t believe kids still did that.
