What Have I Gotten Myself Into?

It's the end of day one in my new apartment, and I can't help but find myself thinking...

WHAT THE HELL HAVE I GOTTEN MYSELF INTO?!?!?!

This place is insane.  It's like a super fancy hotel in desperate need of some lightening up.  I've gotten dirty, evil looks for everything today.  Of course, there were a few times I deserved it (like when my cellphone rang in the library and when I walked into the conference room when I thought it was empty but it really wasn't).  But other than that, those dirty looks were completely uncalled for.

I went out to go grocery shopping and when I came back, I encountered a very... um... unusual lady.  Since I had a lot of bags, it was obviously going to take a few minutes to unload everything from my car.  While I was doing so, this psycho lady comes out of nowhere and parks in the spot next to me and almost hits me in the process (and I mean me as in me, not my car).  When she got out, she looked at me as if I was the one that had almost killed her and then started slowly walking towards the building.  By the time she had through the automatic glass doors, I had pretty much caught up to her.  She slightly turned and I saw her give me another dirty look and mumble something under her breath, and for a second I thought she might push me into the giant pennyless fountain in the lobby.  Was there an unspoken rule about only one person walking in through the shiny automatic glass sliding doors that I didn't know about?  I then started considering taking the stairs instead of being stuck in an elevator with her, but I quickly reconsidered once I remembered I was carrying a bunch of bags that probably weighed at least half my weight.  When we got inside the elevator, I smiled at her, hoping it would somehow make her not so evil.  She just stared at me with a blank expression on her face and pressed the number of the floor she needed to get to.  It was the same floor as me.  When I didn't press any buttons, just raised an eyebrow, turned to the buttons (as if to point), and stared back at me.  When I told her I was on the same floor, her blank stare started to change.  Every second we were in that elevator, her stare got more and more evil.  I have never felt so uncomfortable in an elevator before in my life (this topped the time me and my friend went to San Diego and a drunk older couple noisily made out right next to us the whole way up in the elevator).  The moment the elevator stopped at our floor, I bolted out of there with my heavy bags, and ran to my apartment.  Since I had quite a few bags, it took a bit longer than I expected to get my key and open my door.  Right before I turned the knob to open my door, I turned to see the psycho lady give me one last evil look, and then I noticed she only lives two doors down.

Unfortunately, she wasn't the only one who was like that.  When I was working out at the gym in my building, I must've used a machine that someone else normally uses.  I was in the middle of my workout when this woman holding a water bottle stood in front of me with her arms folded and stared at me until I was too uncomfortable to continue working out.

Another guy gave me a horrible look when I was reading in the library.  I guess I must've been sitting in his favorite seat because he immediately sat down in it when I got up to leave.

The only one in my building who was nice to me today was a guy dressed kinda like Indiana Jones who actually smiled back at me and said hi.  Other than him, everyone here isn't exactly friendly.
